Charlie Hebdo

Parental Units,
The address of the attack: Les Éditions Rotative, 10 Rue Nicolas Appert, 75011 Paris
I live in the 8th arrondissement.
More specifically: 9 rue Murrillo
Where was I when the attack occurred?
Sitting on my couch wrapped up in my green plush robe consuming a bowl of udong and drinking earl grey tea.
I was safe.
I know about the satire magazine:
Charlie Hebdo
I know that in 2006 they had many threats involving their publication of Muhammad in satirical comics.
They couldn't have ever been under the impression that the material they were publishing wouldn't cause an uproar or that it wouldn't unleash some sort of consequence.
Freedom of speech.
Freedom to say what you want or feel the need to express.
To capture the attention of the audience,
To let them know what you think
Because we're all thinking something and have the right to voice it, illustrate it, write it, to make a point about it.
With the abundance of people currently inhabiting Earth it would be impossible not to offend someone.
People take offense.
Especially when the subject is religion.
The team at Charlie Hebdo knew this, especially since they had had multiple threats about their disposition of the matter.
People like to protect their religion.
But there is a limit to what sort of actions one may take to do so.
The Islamic extremists murdered 12 people.
12 people.
People say that the magazine shouldn't have published rude and abusive comics that were very disrespectful towards a religion.
Whether or not they should or shouldn't have continued to publish Muhammad, it was their right to do so and it shouldn't have been meant with murderous violence.
